Hi! I'm Liz 👋🏼 I'm about as full-stack 🥞 as they come. I started as a QA and automation engineer and now I'm a senior full-stack engineer focusing on Rails and React. Early on as a QA I worked on projects from writing SQL scripts to check data, to automation engineering, to React Native applications, and even helping implement Kafka instances and a team transition to Kubernetes. Then I moved on to development, mostly focusing on Rails / React stacks. I also am very comfortable working in Python. Now I've been a full stack developer for a few years, always carrying my QA mindset with me. I love exploring the ins and outs of a problem, and figuring out where I can pick it apart and expose weaknesses. I'm really great at building relationships with stakeholders, establishing trust and cooperation so that we can all move forward with a project in a very pragmatic way. Pairing with coworkers is always very enjoyable for me. I like the collaboration, but I really value the mentorship the most. Teaching juniors git has become a mainstay for me, as well as coaching them to maintain a calm mindset while debugging, encouraging them to move through issues in a systematic way. And of course I always fit in robust testing, showing folks how to create test suites and pipeline automation that will improve their workflow. Let's talk about how I can contribute to your team and stack 🙌🏻

Experiensed software developer

Long ago, my father imparted a dual directive: pursue a profession that offers financial stability, and then, find one you genuinely enjoy. Thus, in 1999, my foray into software development commenced – a path initially paved by the allure of monetary gain. However, this initial motivation led me astray, resulting in a series of misguided decisions. I found myself entangled in projects devoid of personal resonance, grappling with technologies that failed to ignite my passion. Consequently, by 2010, I found myself drained and disillusioned, prompting my departure from the field. In the aftermath, I sought solace in alternative pursuits, dabbling in artistry and carpentry. Yet, amidst these diversions, a yearning for the intricacies of technology persisted. While these endeavors provided fulfillment on a personal level, they ultimately proved to be mere pastimes, unable to satisfy my professional aspirations. In 2019, fueled by a desire to reignite my career, I embarked on a transformative journey through a bootcamp, refocusing my expertise on the dynamic realm of web development. Since then, I've rediscovered the joy inherent in software engineering, embracing each challenge with renewed vigor. Though my journey has been marked by twists and turns, I stand now with a wealth of experience, albeit humbly acknowledging that I am not yet an expert in this ever-evolving field. Originally hailing from Brazil, I now reside in Portugal with my wife, drawn by the promise of a different way of life and the opportunity to forge deeper connections with our relatives. Our time here has been nothing short of fulfilling, as we eagerly embrace the myriad experiences and opportunities afforded by this new chapter.

Ruby on Rails developer & Passionate about technology and solving problems

My journey as a developer has been nothing short of a thrilling adventure, filled with continuous growth and learning. It all began back in 2010 when I took my first steps into the world of programming. The very first programming language that I got my hands on was PHP. I remember the excitement of writing my first "Hello World" program and the sense of accomplishment that followed. It was in those early days that I realized the potential of turning lines of code into functional applications. As the years rolled on, I delved deeper into the world of web development. Around the mid-2010s, I found myself venturing into the realm of JavaScript and Node.js. It was a significant shift from PHP, and it opened up a whole new world of possibilities. Building real-time applications and server-side scripting with Node.js was a whole new ballgame, and it pushed me to refine my coding skills. However, the most significant turning point in my journey occurred towards the end of 2018 when I embarked on a new adventure by diving into the Ruby programming language and the Ruby on Rails framework. Ruby's elegant and concise syntax immediately appealed to me, and Rails' convention-over-configuration approach simplified the development process in a way that I hadn't experienced before. Working with Ruby and Rails allowed me to develop web applications rapidly and efficiently, and I quickly fell in love with the framework's emphasis on developer happiness. Over the years, I've continued to grow as a developer, honing my skills in various programming languages and frameworks. Each language and technology I've encountered has contributed to my knowledge and experience, making me a more versatile and well-rounded developer. Looking back at my journey, it's clear that my passion for coding has driven me to explore new horizons and embrace the ever-evolving landscape of software development. I'm excited to see where the future of technology will take me and the new languages and frameworks I'll have the opportunity to learn and master.
