I started working with Ruby during university and have since delved deeper into Ruby, Rails, open-source, and much more. For the most part, I worked as a full-stack developer. Until 2015, I frequently used jQuery on frontend (those were rough times), from 2015 to 2021, I used React and Vue, and since 2021, I have focused on Turbo. For over a year, I've been using Kamal for deploying projects. I'm not afraid to work with other languages and frameworks if needed. I've also worked quite a bit with Go, Rust, and Elixir. Since 2012, I have contributed to the development of several startups, both large and small. Overall, I am an expert in creating MVPs that can be delivered to users. As a full-stack developer, I can single-handedly create a sustainable MVP because it will be a well-documented product with tests and managed infrastructure. Afterwards, I often become the team lead for a growing team and help achieve initial important results. I choose teams based on the subject areas I am most interested in and want to explore further. I have worked in educational startups, ad-related products, and developed systems for managing logistics companies.

I've been developing software for 30 years, and I have a preference for rails due to how productive it makes me. I'm not much of a fan of the hotwire story within Rails, but mostly work with typescript on react. I'm fluent with SQL and use that to refactor poorly performing queries

Got my start in Java almost 20 years ago, then moved to PHP before finding home in Ruby and Rails. There's no other stack quite like it and I'm content here. Passionate about refactoring and improving the quality of existing code. RSpec is my jam because it's expressive DSL is easy to read and understand. I don't believe that strict adherence to "design patterns" is always necessarily the best option, especially when adopting those patterns require breaking established conventions. I prefer monoliths to microservices and server-side rendering to SPAs. I like to keep things simple. I like to stick to what works. Containerized apps are fun, but there's just nothing quite like a simple bundle check && bin/dev on your desktop to get you up and running. I've worked in AgTech, FinTech, RegTech, and GovTech-adjacent. AgTech was probably my favorite so far. There were so many new and interesting challenges to tackle in that industry. It was a low-pressure, low-stakes environment where exploration was what the journey was all about.

Been building on the web since the late 90s. Ruby on Rails since 2007. I love building things that solve a need for users. I'm really into the idea exploration, as well as the implementation, focusing on the important parts and what drives the product forward. I enjoy Ruby, JavaScript and everything web - I strive for the simple solution to prove it works, before going for the more complex. I spent the last 10 years at a company that grew from 80 people when I started to more than 6000 when I left. I've been working on all parts of the stack. I enjoy full stack web development. I like thinking about the UI and making it look crisp. I feel super comfortable on the frontend and likewise on the backend. I have launched, failed and succeeded with multiple side projects. I've worked on everything from small nice-to-use UI details to more complex payment code. I absolutely love Ruby on Rails and the tools it gives me, which makes implementing features and ideas very very fast. I'm good at css, I love JavaScript. There's an inflection point in every startup, where you've got your MVP and some initial customers, and now you need to scale everything. Not just the performance of your application, but entire features to support a new kind of larger customer. You need to grow the team, not just engineering, but product and customer support, and also incorporate the tools to support them. This is where I'm in my groove, and at my most effective. I've grown teams from 3 to 20+, improved application performance while handling 100x the load, and designed and built features from the ground up in an iterative and agile manner to minimize time-to-delivery while maximizing flexibility for future work. I have over 20 years' experience as a "web application" developer, in a variety of languages and technologies (PHP, Perl). I've been a Rails developer since there was a Rails, releasing my first app on 0.11 in 2005, and have kept up with it since. I'm comfortable working at entire levels of the app stack, from tweaking drop shadows in SCSS to optimizing database queries and debugging stack traces. I have the experience to know when I need to crank out some quick and dirty code vs take the time to architect a foundation that will scale and provide a platform upon which the team can build stable features for years. I'll work with other teams/departments within the company and customers to work to figure out optimal solutions to problems, gathering and balancing the various tradeoffs involved. I also really enjoying pairing with senior developers, since we can both learn something new, as well as mentoring and leveling up the juniors and mids. I'm involved in the various Ruby communities, have spoken at Rubyconf, and have frequented the local Ruby group for years. I've been involved with major Ruby open-source development in the past, like Merb and DataMapper, and am still an active contributor to smaller projects such as Dry-rb.
