I used to work for the man (Deloitte etc), but then founded a little book publisher so I could do something better with my life. When I needed a publishing management system to help the company grow, I discovered that the existing software solutions were stagnant and expensive -- so, to cut a ten-year story short, I learned Rails and built my own. That app has grown into consonance.app, and my team and I work to make it the best publishing management system in the world.
I also still run the little publisher (snowbooks.com) and do a sideline in children's publishing, too (another Rails app called makeourbook.com). I rant about bad documentation at justsimply.dev and we try to encourage technical literacy in publishing (dayofcode.co.uk, sideprojectsummer.com)
