I'm a senior Rails developer with over 20 years of experience, including being part of the Rails community since its first public release. I'm the author of two Ruby on Rails books and I bring a versatile skillset spanning architecture design, backend development, performance optimisation, and product strategy.

I love working with small teams where I can contribute across the entire application development process. Over my career, I’ve built complete applications for both venture-backed startups, and multinationals. I’ve also served as CTO at two startups, leading teams and scaling platforms from the ground up.

My technical expertise centres on Rails, but extends to Elixir Phoenix and LiveView for projects requiring real-time capabilities. I'm experienced in modern frontend development with Tailwind CSS, and in modernising legacy Rails applications through seamless upgrades and Hotwire integration. While the majority of my projects are built from scratch, I also have experience leveraging frameworks like Bullet Train and Jumpstart Pro to accelerate development.
