Ruby on Rails Expert | Real Time App | NodeJS | ReactJS | NextJS

As a developer with over 7 years of experience, my journey began with a curiosity for how technology can be harnessed to solve real-world problems. Early on, I was drawn to full-stack development because of the opportunity to work across the entire application lifecycle. My expertise lies in Ruby on Rails, ReactJS, and React Native, but my passion for learning has driven me to continually expand my skill set with technologies like GO, NextJS, Node.js, and Python. One of my recent accomplishments was leading the development of a mobile app that streamlined a complex insurance process. By integrating APIs, building a custom voucher system, and enhancing the user interface, I not only improved the user experience but also contributed to a 10% increase in sales. This project reinforced my belief in the power of well-crafted software to drive business success. What sets me apart as a developer is my focus on problem-solving and scalability. I thrive on dissecting complex issues, whether it's improving performance by optimizing code or implementing a solution that scales seamlessly. I’m passionate about helping businesses grow through technology, and I pride myself on my ability to adapt quickly, learn new tools, and apply them to solve unique challenges. Above all, I am committed to building high-quality, impactful software that not only meets the needs of users but also drives meaningful results for the businesses I collaborate with. Whether it’s developing from scratch, maintaining existing projects, or testing new ideas with an MVP, I bring a versatile and solutions-driven mindset to every challenge.

I am a quick learner with immense passion, I like to figure things out, build stuffs.

I started my Journey, when i was 18, in computer science with learning c & cpp, the very first subject i taught myself was data structures & algorithms. Since then I loved solving problems and getting interested in it, I was deep into low-level, making cli tools, modifying linux kernel modules, and i also tried to build a basic unix-like os inspired by xv6. Although, I learnt a lot in that year, but i wanted to do something that had real impact, something that provides business values. At that time, it was obvious that only Building WebApps would mean that. So, I started learning webdev from mdn docs, just the basics like html, css, and js. I made some tiny toy projects with it, I wasn't satisfied with them I wanted to do something bigger and more "real". I searched for the answers, and I was told frameworks/libraries like React -> next.js and Vue, with nodejs-express , and db like postgresql and mongodb are to be learned to make good webapps. I kinda felt I wish there was a simpler and faster way than this. So i looked again, and was met with ruby on rails. So I started learning Ruby, and I got it in halfday, the next step was to learn rails, so i went to search for some tutorials that'll explain me the how-to of building with rails, and it felt so intuitive that i went on with it. So simple and fast, although it was not easy to understand in the first time, but as soon as i started building It got easy for me to work with it. and I learnt it in 5 days with 5 projects. From my experience, i just wanted to demonstrate my quick learning skills and fast adapting ability and curiosity to figure things out as you go and solve problems asap. Although, I have not worked as Industry-Standard Dev, which is what i am seeking. In 1 week of involvement with Professionally developing webapps, working to solve business problems, I can just quickly adapt to what is expected of me.

I started my journey in 2014 after graduating fresh out from college and getting into my first Job. My first project was really exciting and I was fortunate enough that I got a chance to work on it, that was to build a Software application that controls the drone when it is in the air and the user can draw an Area of interest where the drone would fly and as initially, I was the only one on the project and I myself did all the research work including the Mavlink protocol which was going to be used for communication between software and hardware, so an interesting problem I solved was implementing the custom messages that need to be sent to the bird and to cache a map on the file system So I created an algorithm to calculate the bounding box for an Area of Interest and download the map tiles in the background so that if a user is flying the drone where the internet is unavailable then also the map is visible on the desktop application. Then for one of the projects, I built a scoring and leaderboard engine for the same using a self-balanced binary search tree(SBBST). Detailed design is mentioned here (https://murtazabagwala.xyz/posts/algorithms). Recently built recommendation algorithm for one of the product. I am passionate about learning new tech and implementing the same also love exploring engineering blogs of tech companies to understand how exactly they solved the particular problem. I also believe tech can make a world better place to leave, and As engineers, we pride ourselves on the ability to problem-solve. I enjoy working through problem after problem, getting a precise solution. But I feel the impact is not related to the solution we build but it is equally associated with the problem itself, So, I feel if we could simplify the problem and understand the problem itself first than start building a solution in the first place then I think we can make a better impact. But, sometimes we get so focused on solving the problem in front of us that we don’t stop to think if the problem is really is the problem. As per my professional summary. I would like to highlight some of my skills:- Good understanding of Algorithms, Data Structures, Design Patterns, Object-oriented/ Functional Principles, and Software architectures. Good communication skills and experience in working with teams of different sizes. Knowledgeable of Backend and Frontend best practices. Also, I would like to mention some of my achievements and contributions as well:- Recently my blog got published in Rubyweekly's 597, 600, and 603 editions. Very popular Ruby weekly digest. Created a library called SAUR that parses the swagger file and generates RESTLET routes (github.com/murtaza-bagwala/saur). Contributions to open-source space https://github.com/chatwoot/chatwoot/commits?author=murtaza-bagwala Created an algorithm to calculate the player's rank and leaderboard in linear time using the Self Balanced Binary Search Tree which was used across all our igaming trivia apps (github.com/murtaza-bagwala/ranking-and-leaderboard).
