Versatile engineer bridging AI and human needs

New profile

With 9 years of engineering excellence across diverse domains, I've mastered the art of transforming complex challenges into elegant technological solutions. As the creator and maintainer of the Solid Queue Monitor gem(https://rubygems.org/gems/solidqueuemonitor) —a zero-dependency monitoring solution for Rails background jobs—I've demonstrated my commitment to improving developer tooling in the Ruby ecosystem. In my current role as a Staff Engineer at Torch.io, a coaching platform trusted by industry giants like Stripe, LinkedIn, Airbnb, and TripAdvisor, I've revolutionized support systems by implementing OpenAI's GPT-3.5 for email automation, reducing manual intervention by 48%. Ruby on Rails Developer

Hi, I’m Rahul – a backend developer with a strong foundation in Ruby on Rails and a growing expertise in Node.js. I specialize in building and optimizing LMS platforms, working with complex domains like courses, learning paths, event sessions, assessments, and analytics. With a strong focus on performance optimization, I’ve worked closely with developers and CSM teams to solve real-world product challenges efficiently. Currently, I’m expanding my skill set by diving into Node.js and modern JavaScript tooling. I’ve worked with npm and global package management, and I’m actively exploring parallel processing and scalability solutions for high-performance applications. My passion for learning doesn’t stop there—I’m also deeply invested in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design, constantly solving LeetCode problems to sharpen my problem-solving skills. Beyond web development, I’m interested in system design and have been working on a news aggregator project to improve my ability to architect scalable applications. Looking ahead, I’m exploring low-level programming languages to stay ahead in the ever-evolving tech landscape. I thrive on challenges, love optimizing systems for speed and efficiency, and am always eager to learn and grow. Whether it’s scaling backend systems, solving algorithmic problems, or transitioning into new technologies, I’m excited about building impactful solutions. Looking only for contract work | 0-to-1 Development | Rails developer (12+ years) | Sidekiq | RabbitMQ | Hotwire, Stimulus and Turbo | CTO | 0-to-1 Apps

I’m a Rails developer with over 12 years of experience in software development, including 10+ years working hands-on with Ruby on Rails. Along the way, I’ve built all kinds of applications—automation tools, ERPs, inventory management systems, insurtech platforms, social media apps, and even AI-integrated solutions. I’ve always focused on creating large-scale, high-performance apps that can handle thousands of concurrent records without breaking a sweat. I’ve worked with both SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases, making sure they’re set up for speed and scalability. On the backend, I’m well-versed in Sidekiq and RabbitMQ for background processing, and on the frontend, I use tools like Hotwire, Turbo, and Stimulus to make apps fast and interactive. When it comes to deployment, I’ve got plenty of experience with Google Cloud, AWS, and Fly.io, which lets me build infrastructure that’s as reliable as it is scalable. The recent apps I've developed have included AI integration with OpenAI and Anthropic APIs. At present, I'm also setting up an internal LLM for speeding up software development. What makes me stand out? I code fast. Really fast. I’m great at taking an idea from zero to a fully functioning app in just days, without cutting corners on quality. Having worked in Asia and Europe, I’ve learned how to adapt to different clients and challenges, which helps me deliver exactly what’s needed, every time. Recently, I co-founded my own software consulting firm, where I get to use my skills and experience to help businesses grow and succeed. Outside of coding, I’m passionate about dogs, I love solving crosswords, and I’m a bit of a political nerd. These hobbies keep my mind sharp and my creativity flowing, which is probably why I enjoy tackling complex coding challenges. I know Ruby and Rails inside out, and I thrive on turning big ideas into reality—quickly and efficiently. If you need someone who can hit the ground running and deliver results, I’m your developer.

Rails/React Developer

I am a web developer from India, working with Ruby on Rails, React, and Next.js, with a strong foundation in building scalable and user-friendly web applications. Before becoming a full-time developer, I was a teacher at a diploma school. My journey into web development began from scratch, and it wasn’t an easy transition. I started learning through The Odin Project, an open-source, project-oriented curriculum. It emphasized practical learning and warned against the pitfalls of “tutorial hell,” encouraging a hands-on approach from day one. Following this path, I adopted a “read-and-build” mindset: I learned HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Git, while building real-world projects to solidify my skills. Once I gained confidence with the fundamentals, I ventured framework with React, creating single-page applications that boosted my confidence. I started freelancing while actively seeking full-time roles, which led me to a position at a startup where my journey with Ruby on Rails began. At the startup, I developed likeness for Rails and its “convention over configuration” philosophy. I built RESTful APIs, implemented Active Record ORM, wrote unit tests using Minitest, and integrated these features with front-end user interfaces. I also had the privilege of building projects from scratch, including MVPs—a hands-on experience that sharpened both my technical and problem-solving skills. The only thing that mattered to me is being a better developer than I was the day before.

Frontend Rails Developer

My current business card says I'm a developer. But that doesn't begin to describe all that I am about. I have experience in many roles that make me a lynchpin for business. Whilst I traditionally have been trained as an artist, I grew up on technology from an early age. I began programming on a Commodore 64 in the early 1980's. I built my own website in the early 1990's because there were only two companies in all of Australia that would build a website for my business. So I learnt web programming and saved myself thousands whilst learning more about the internet. Iron Man is my favourite movie and I realise why now. Tony Stark is an innovator, designer, engineer and inventive. An all round that allows you to dream big and create. I have skills in illustration, technical direction, project management, Agile business development and community networks that allow me to effectively produce in not for profit, charity and commercial business. I have over twenty years of experience with and for not for profit organisations. I''m very familiar with government funding because of this. I've a diverse history having worked in live caricature gigs for major corporates, taught tai chi to over 100 students in one large park lesson at once, spoken at national conferences and presented workshops and training sessions to the private organisations and the general public. I'm happy to do public speaking, work solo or fly with a team to do what it takes to make a challenge soar.
