Efficient and persistent.

Hello! My name is Manuel Lopez, and I'm a passionate and motivated developer eager to make an impact in the tech industry. I recently graduated from Durham College and am currently working as a dishwasher while I focus on advancing my career in development. My journey into programming started with a fascination for how things work at a fundamental level, which led me to explore both front-end and back-end development. One of my proudest accomplishments is creating a detailed 8085 microprocessor simulator, which allowed me to dive deep into low-level programming and computer architecture. This project, along with my work on a React Native multimedia application, highlights my ability to handle complex technical challenges and deliver high-quality results. Currently, I'm developing a CHIP-8 visualizer, an interactive tool that enhances understanding of the CHIP-8 emulator by visualizing memory interactions and display updates. I thrive on solving problems and learning new technologies. For instance, I'm actively participating in the ProtoHackers challenge, which is helping me refine my skills and stay current with industry trends. My unique combination of skills in both low-level and high-level programming, coupled with my determination and enthusiasm, makes me a valuable asset. I am committed to leveraging my abilities to contribute effectively to your team and help drive innovative solutions. If you’re looking for a developer who is not only technically proficient but also passionate about continuous learning and making a meaningful impact, I would be thrilled to bring my expertise and dedication to your company.

Experienced & Empathetic Tech Lead • RuboCop Core Team Member

Programming professionally for 20 years. I've spent the last 4.5 years as Backend Lead at Pexels, and previously held lead roles at HYP3R and TalentNest. Primarily interested in backend Team Lead or Engineering Lead positions. Looking for a fully remote role. I am very passionate about software engineering, writing maintainable, testable and clean code that follows good architectural practices. I began as a self-taught programmer as a preteen, and worked as a freelance developer through high school and university. That led to a career in multiple industries (including construction, applicant tracking software, social media and currently stock photography), and a fast rise from individual contributor to tech lead and beyond. In order to give back to the Ruby community, I began heavily contributing to RuboCop (a Ruby linter with 300 million downloads that is a key piece of the toolset for most Ruby developers), culminating being invited to become a core team member at the beginning of 2021. I have held lead seniority roles for more than 12 years. As a manager, I see myself as a developer advocate, and spend a lot of time focusing on the happiness and productivity of my staff. Currently I am the Backend Lead at Pexels. In this capacity at a small company, I have a wide variety of responsibilities, including: Architect, plan, implement, test and ship large complex features and build out process Help non-engineers plan, scope and estimate their projects and participate in organization-wide product planning Triage and respond to security issues in code and infrastructure, including running a bug bounty program Manage and mentor a team of backend engineers of all levels. Procure and negotiate with vendors, including saving the company tens of thousands of dollars in hosting costs Looking forward to hearing from you!

Principal Engineer/Tech Lead/Senior Engineer

Hi 👋, my name is Sergey, nice to meet you! TL;DR: I’m a self made developer with 8+ YOE, a business oriented mindset, and a passion to find balance between “ship it fast” and “make it perfect”, as well as enough skills to consult or develop a fully functioning app or website using ruby, elixir, javascript, or whatever other language your heart desires 😉 One of my proudest achievements is that I architected a bunch of systems which are being used by thousands of people on a daily basis, which were later developed by a team I managed and mentored. It’s my pride and pleasure to create something that will be used by other people, and will make someone’s life easier. One of my main skills that distinguish me from others is the ability to analyze the software from the business perspective. Should we spend some time on technical debt? Should we ship MVP really quickly and perfect it later? Should we rewrite or hire a new developer? These are the questions that not every responsible and proactive software engineer can answer, these questions require deep understanding of client needs, as well as highly rational perception of software. Or do you just need to quickly develop a quality product and want someone responsible to help you with this? I’m your guy! I would be glad to help you architect, develop, or consult on any kind of idea or software you have on your mind, as well as maintain or add features to an existing product you have. Don’t hesitate to reach out, I’m absolutely sure I can help you!

I’m a passionate and experienced developer with over a decade of expertise in building scalable web applications, specializing in Ruby on Rails. I thrive on solving complex challenges, writing clean, maintainable code, and using TDD and design patterns to deliver high-quality solutions. Always eager to learn and grow, I enjoy collaborating with teams to create impactful and innovative products.

Hello, my name is Germán, and I’m 47 years old. I’ve been working in IT for over 20 years. I began with ASP and dBASE on DOS and Dr. DOS. Early on, as I looked for better tools, I transitioned to PHP and began using GNU/Linux. After trying Mandrake, RedHat, Gentoo, and Slackware, I eventually chose Debian, which I still use on my desktop today. I started as a PHP Backend Developer, setting up on-site servers for www.turismoentrerios.com and enjoyed configuring systems like Apache, phpMyAdmin, MySQL, Bind, Squid Cache and so on and so on. In 2005, after attending a Python conference and a few meetups, I decided to start working with Ruby. I was fascinated by scaffolding and Ruby’s “magic” methods and knew I wanted to use this language professionally. At Cafe Conf 2007, I presented on basic Ruby concepts, (which helped solidify my path in development). My professional experience grew from there, including: Decisiv: I spent significant time migrating tests from Minitest to RSpec. ImagineRetailer: I worked on migrating the system from PHP legacy code to Shopify using API services. Nurelm: Most recently, I developed multiple applications using Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Sinatra, PostgreSQL, and Docker. With over 10 years of experience in Ruby and Ruby on Rails, plus extensive experience in PHP and some background in Python, I bring a broad technical skill set to my work.
