Software Engineer, Product Designer & Analyst with deep experience in healthcare & data-oriented systems

Hi, I'm Delon. I've served as a software engineer, analyst and product designer for over 20 years. I've been tinkering with computers since I was 10 years old and have been engrossed in math, computer science & learning the art of computer programming since I was 15 (https://paulgraham.com/knuth.html). When I was 18 I got my first professional programming job automating a data conversion for my mother's client.

I enjoy solving business and organizational problems through good communication and just the right amount of art, science & technology. I specialize in designing and building data-oriented systems like scheduling systems, workflow systems, and form systems. I also enjoy graphic design, systems programming & integration, automation, working with arcane data formats, and building compilers and interpreters.

Though I'm comfortable with a wide variety of technologies, most of my work is with Ruby on Rails, JavaScript (including TypeScript) & Clojure. I've also been gaining experience with Natural Language Processing.

I'm available to advise you on technical decisions & help you solve hard problems. I may also be able to help you get projects started, complete stalled projects, and coach teams on things like system design, blending object-oriented and functional programming for maximal effect, and dealing with technical challenges around modeling sparsely structured data (especially in healthcare and clinical research).
